Sugar Ray Leonard was part of “The Fabulous Four”; a group of boxers that included Robert Duran, Thomas Hearns, and Marvin Hagler. They became popular because they all fought against each other in the 1980’s, with each fight entering the record books as one of the best in their time. Sugar Ray won world titles in five weight divisions, and was the undisputed welterweight champion. He received the Fighter of the Year Award three times (1976, 1979, and 1981) and was dubbed “Boxer of the Decade” in the 1980’s.
After his retirement, he has remained active in the boxing world, working as an analyst for several boxing shows, and also dabbling in acting, appearing in numerous movies. He even hosted a show with Sylvester Stallone called The Contender. Let’s look at the career of this boxing superstar, with a collection of pictures that starts with his entry into boxing almost 40 years ago, until today, where he still works as a commentator for big boxing events.
