Pele is Brazil’s national treasure and is considered the best football player in the world, better than present greats such as Ronaldo and Messi. He grew up in poverty in his native Brazil, and learned football in the streets, as his family could not afford to give him a proper football education. He became a child sensation in indoor football in Sao Paulo, Brazil, winning several championships during his early days. The championships placed him under the radar of the football club Santos FC, where he went on to become one of the best players on the planet.

Pele was also instrumental in three of Brazil’s World Cup wins from 1958-1970. He is the only player to win three World Cup trophies, a testament to his football greatness. We follow his life through a series of pictures from his childhood up to the present. He is now a global ambassador for football, helping boost awareness of the sport and serving as an inspiration to millions of fans around the world.
