A Personal Photolog: John Forbes Nash, Jr from Childhood to His Last Day
John Forbes Nash Jr. was an American mathematician who was born on January 13, 1928, in Bluefield, West Virginia. He was considered a mathematical genius at a young age and was able to finish his studies due to scholarships. At 19 years old, he graduated with a B.S. and M.S. in Mathematics. He then received a scholarship at Princeton University for his post-graduate studies. His works greatly influenced differential geometry, game theory, and partial differential equations.
In 1994, Nash was awarded a Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences alongside game theorists Reinhard Selten and John Harsanyi. In 2015, he received another award, the Abel Prize, for his work on nonlinear partial differential equations with Louis Nirenberg. In an unfortunate turn of events, Nash and his wife were killed while riding a taxi on May 23, 2015.
