A Personal Photolog: Wolfgang Puck Through the Years
The culinary world will not be complete without Wolfgang Johannes Puck. Born in Austria, he is an American celebrity chef and restaurateur who manages a long list of restaurants. He opened Spago, his first restaurant, in 1982 at the Sunset Strip but later relocated it to Beverly Hills. He also opened Spago Istanbul in Turkey, and Chinois, an Asian fusion-themed restaurant in 1983 in Santa Monica, California. His other restaurants included Postrio in San Francisco, Spago in Beverly Hills, and Trattoria del Lupo in Las Vegas.
Puck’s restaurants often receive lots of accolades and recognition. In 1992, Spago Hollywood was inducted into the Nation’s Restaurant News Fine Dining Hall of Fame. The following year, it was named the James Beard Restaurant of the Year.
Puck was inducted into the Culinary Hall of Fame in 2013, and in 2017, he received a star at the Hollywood Walk of Fame because of his contributions to the television industry. He was also named the International Foodservice Manufacturers Association (IFMA) 2017 Gold Plate Winner in May 2017.
