Gerry Rafferty was born in Scotland on April 16, 1947, and became one of the most celebrated Scottish singer-songwriters of his time. He grew up in a working-class family and began his musical journey in 1969 as a member of the folk-pop group called The Humblebums. The band parted ways in 1971, and he embarked his solo journey. He was also a part of the group Stealers Wheel with Joe Egan for quite some time.
Rafferty gave us unforgettable hit songs as a solo artist such as Right Down the Line, Night Owl, and Baker Street. He has lived his life in music, and although he passed away on January 4, 2011, his legacy lives on. Let’s take a look back at his life through the years, and witness how he became a legend in his own right.
