With a total net worth of $81.1 billion as of August 2017, Warren Edward Buffett is the second richest individual in the United States, and fourth wealthiest in the world. His wealth mostly comes from his businesses and investments. He is considered one of the world’s most successful investors, serving as CEO and Chairman of Berkshire Hathaway. He’s also the largest shareholder of the multinational conglomerate holding company since 1970.
Despite his large fortune, Buffet is known for his frugality. Aside from being an American business magnate and investor, Buffett is a philanthropist who previously expressed his plan to give away most of his wealth. Together with Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg, he founded The Giving Pledge in 2009, where billionaires make a pledge that at least half of their wealth will be given away. Also, Buffett pledged to support the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
